ISCC PLUS

About ISCC

The International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) is an international certification system for sustainability and carbon. The ISCC PLUS certification is a system for managing and ensuring the sustainability of products made from sustainable raw materials, such as biomass and recycled materials, produced outside the EU and sold worldwide, using the mass balance approach along the supply chain.

About Certification Acquisition

In November 2022, our company obtained the ISCC PLUS (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification), an international certification system for sustainable products. With this certification, we have started handling ISCC PLUS certified products, which involve the allocation of sustainable raw materials using the mass balance approach. The acquisition of ISCC PLUS certification enables us to handle ISCC PLUS certified products globally, including outside the EU. We can also issue official Sustainability Declarations (SD) to prove the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions for each business partner. Moving forward, we plan to expand our offering of ISCC PLUS certified raw materials, not limited to products from Perstorp, to further support our customers in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in their supply chains.

About the Mass Balance Approach

The mass balance approach is a method used in the manufacturing process where sustainable raw materials (e.g., biomass-derived materials) and non-sustainable raw materials (e.g., petroleum-derived materials) are mixed to produce products. This approach allocates a portion of sustainability to the final product based on the amount of sustainable raw materials used.

About Certified Products

The environmentally friendly resin raw materials produced by our business partner, Perstorp, are chemically identical to fossil-based products, but their raw materials are derived from renewable or recyclable sources. These environmentally friendly resin raw materials are certified under ISCC PLUS (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification).
